Sheffield
Sheffield is a city in South Yorkshire, England, with a
large population (550, 000). Sheffield gained an
international reputation for steel production in the 19th
century, and was where stainless steel was first invented.
Sheffield is known as the greenest city in Europe, as
it has 2 million trees, and 83 parks. Sheffield is also the
gateway to the Peak District, a National Park spanning
1,437km².
Throughout the city you can find plenty of large, open
parks and green spaces.

University of Sheffield
The University's history stretches back to 1828, when
the Sheffield School of Medicine was founded, and our
University Charter was granted in 1905. The University of
Sheffield has grown considerably since then, and now has
25,000 students from 117 countries, as well as 6000 staff.
In 2011, the University of Sheffield was named UK
University of the Year in the Times Higher Education Awards.
