Arriving in Halle (Saale) by airplane

With a close proximity to Halle, the Halle/Leipzig Airport is the most convenient choice for travelling here by air (https://www.leipzig-halle-airport.de/en/).

Several train lines (S5, S5X, IC) offer a direct connection from Halle/Leipzig Airport to Halle Central Station, leaving approximately every 15 minutes. Travel time is around 10 minutes.

For guests arriving at Berlin airports, Inter City Express trains (ICE; the German fast train) bound for Halle leave at Berlin Central Station approximately every half hour, travel time is just over an hour (the costs are about 40-60€ depending on the train used, one way).

Busses (Bus TXL) from Berlin Tegel Airport to Berlin Central Station leave every six minutes,

travelling for 25 minutes; train line S9 leaves Berlin Schönefeld Airport headed to Berlin Central Station roughly every half an hour, travelling for 40 minutes.

A cheap, but less convenient type of travel from Berlin is to take a FlixBus. Depending on the departure time the prices range from 17 to about 30€ and the bus ride takes between 2 and 2,5 hours. More information: https://global.flixbus.com

 

 

Arriving in Halle (Saale) by train

Halle Central Station is part of several ICE Sprinter routes connecting Halle to Berlin, Erfurt, Frankfurt, Nuremberg, and Munich. This allows for direct, quick travels from these cities.

In addition to these long-distance trains, several regional train lines connect Halle to surrounding larger citites such as Leipzig.

From Central Train Station to Steintor Campus: Tram lines 2, 5, and 12 directly connect Halle Central Station to our campus (“Am Steintor” Station), travel time is around 5 minutes for every line.

Arriving in Halle (Saale) by car

The motorways A14 (Dresden-Hanover), A9 (Berlin-Munich) and A38 (Halle-Göttingen) all have exits leading to Halle; several large interstate roads also converge here (B6, B80, B91, B100).
