Professor Christie Davies

It is with great sadness that the Advisory Board of the summer school has learned of the passing away, on 26th August 2017, of Professor Christie Davies. Christie was a lecturer at the first humour summer school in 2001, at the most recent event in 2017, and at most of the summer schools in between. He was known for the high quality of his scholarship, his lucid and entertaining presentations, and his genial attitude towards colleagues and students. He will be greatly missed.

The next summer school

The 18th International Summer School and Symposium on Humour and Laughter will take place from the 2nd-7th July 2018, hosted by the University of Wolverhampton, England, at the university's campus in Telford, Shropshire. The organisers will be Josianne Boutonnet and Tracey Platt.

Future summer schools

The Advisory Board welcomes bids from institutions wishing to host the 2019 or 2020 Humour Summer School. (It is customary to accept bids only from those who have previously attended the Humour Summer School.) More information is available on the contact page.
