Humour Summer School 2012
12th International Summer School and Symposium on Humour and Laughter: Theory, Research and Applications

Savonlinna is a small and safe town (about 30,000 inhabitants) surrounded by the lake Saimaa, in Southeast Finland. In the heart of the city is the castle Olavinlinna (built in 1474 - 1483), the scene of the yearly Opera Festival.

The Summer School will take place at the Savonlinna Campus of the University of Eastern Finland. The campus is located on a hill, in the quarter of Heikinpohja. (See map).  The Savonlinna Campus hosts the unit of the School of Applied Educational Science and Teacher Education. The Savonlinna Unit has a profile which focuses on the teaching of arts and crafts. The other units at the campus are Normal School, ADUCATE - the centre for training and development and the Finnish University Network for Tourism Studies (about 1000 students during an academic year).
